Current transformers are manufactured because measuring high currents with measuring instruments is expensive. They are connected in series with the electrical circuit. The secondary winding cuts the magnetic field created by the current flowing through the current transformer’s primary winding, creating a cyclic current in the secondary winding. A measuring instrument connected in parallel with the secondary winding measures the current flowing through the primary circuit. The reading on the measuring instrument connected to the secondary winding is the ratio of the primary winding current to the transformer’s loop current. The secondary winding end of such transformers should never be left unattended while current is flowing through the primary winding; otherwise, the transformer’s secondary winding will be damaged. Electrical breakers (fuses, etc.) are not used for protection in the secondary winding.
The accurate, safe, and efficient operation of energy systems relies on precise measurements. Ergu Energy offers current and voltage transformers that reduce high voltage and large current values to safe levels detectable by standard measuring devices and protection relays. Ensure complete control and security of your system with these critical components, the eyes and ears of your energy infrastructure.
Both are instrument transformers. A current transformer reduces high current flowing through a circuit to measurable low levels and is connected in series with the circuit. A voltage transformer reduces high voltage flowing through a circuit to measurable low levels and is connected in parallel with the circuit. Together, they enable complete analysis and protection of the power system.
Choosing the right transformer depends on many criteria, including the system's voltage level, maximum current rating, desired accuracy class (for measurement or protection), location (indoor/outdoor), and physical dimensions. Ergu Energy's expert engineers will assist you in determining the most suitable and efficient transformers for your project.
Yes. Periodic maintenance is important to maintain measurement accuracy and reliability. In particular, checking the cleanliness, tightness, and insulation levels of terminals is critical to system operation.
At Ergu Energy, we don't just supply products; we offer the most suitable, accurate, and reliable solution for your system. By combining products from leading, proven brands with our engineering expertise, we secure the most sensitive part of your energy infrastructure.
No. In addition to product supply, we also offer turnkey solutions for the selection, installation, commissioning and periodic testing/maintenance services of transformers suitable for your project.
